Condition

This absolutely stunning and highly distinctive vintage Longines Water Ski Chronograph dates to 1960s and represents one of the most unusual and sought-after sporting chronographs produced by Longines during the late 1960s. Featuring a substantial stainless-steel cushion-shaped case and an exceptionally striking black dial, the watch is distinguished by contrasting cream-colored subsidiary registers, applied hour markers, elegant baton hands, and a vivid red central chronograph hand. Most notably, the outer red and black scale is a specialized water-skiing/slalom scale, designed for use in competitive water-skiing and giving this remarkable timepiece its distinctive "Water Ski" designation. Presented in excellent vintage condition and with its original bracelet, this timepiece is outstanding both mechanically and cosmetically, keeping excellent time. This watch is a fascinating piece of Longines history and a particularly compelling addition to any serious vintage chronograph collection.

Please note that while this Longines was designed as a water sport watch, due to its vintage status we do not recommend exposing it to water without first having it professionally pressure tested. As such, water resistance cannot be guaranteed.

Dial - The dial is in excellent condition for a watch of this age, showing beautifully charming signs of age on closer inspection.

Case - The large stainless steel cushion-shaped remains in brilliant condition, preserving its original circular brushstrokes beautifully, only showing very light common signs of wear.

Crown - The original, Longines signed crown works perfectly in all its functions and is in excellent condition.

Movement - The watch encases its original Longines Manual wind chronograph movement which is working excellently. 

Case Back – The original case back is in excellent condition, retaining its original inner and outer markings and finish in remarkably well-preserved condition for its age.

Strap - This timepiece comes on its original, Longines signed bracelet, the overall look is fantastic, only showing very light wear. The bracelet has some flex, and the clasp shows a dent and light scratches.

Crystal - The crystal is in excellent condition, only showing very fine wear under magnification, otherwise, it looks perfectly clean.
