History 

The Rolex Datejust 1601 is an iconic reference in Rolex’s long-running Datejust line, produced from 1959 through to the late 1970s. It epitomises mid-20th-century Rolex design and helped cement the Datejust as a timeless classic.

Condition

This absolutely stunning vintage Rolex Datejust ref. 1601 dates from 1966 and features a an incredible and beautifully textured champagne linen dial. The distinctive dial is complemented by the timeless two-tone case with a fluted solid 18ct gold bezel. The watch is running perfectly and keeping excellent time within vintage specifications. While it is not supplied with its original box or papers, its authenticity has been verified and an authenticity guarantee card will be provided.

Dial - Brilliant condition, showing only light age on hands and lume visible under magnification.

Case - This piece features a stainless steel case which is in excellent condition and shows light signs of use. The brushwork on the front of the case remains in excellent original condition. The solid 18ct gold bezel is also in excellent condition, showing light wear under magnification.

Crown - The crown is its original Rolex screw down and is in excellent condition and works perfectly in all of its functions. 

Movement - This model houses its original Rolex Calibre 1570 automatic movement which is flawless in every way. It is keeping fantastic time for a watch of this age. 

Case back - The case back with all of the Rolex markings on the inner remains in excellent condition, showing light signs of wear from use over its decades of life. 

Strap - We have put this watch on a new, high quality leather strap which suits the watch perfectly and fits the wrist comfortably.

Crystal - The watch features an acrylic Cyclops crystal which was standard for Rolexes of this era. The crystal is in excellent condition showing some signs of wear on the edges, which is mainly visible with a loupe. To the naked eye, the crystal looks perfectly clear.
