History 

 Rolex launched the Air-King collection in 1945 as a tribute to the pilots of World War II. With its iconic design and precision, it quickly became a symbol of aviation heritage and functionality. This continues to be highly sought-after watch, cherished for its timeless style and reliability. 

Condition

This 18k gold plated Rolex Air-King 5506 is absolutely stunning as well as it is in brilliant condition for its age. The watch shows only light signs of wear and features a beautiful off-white dial which brings out the glinting gold indexes, hands and, of course, the iconic Rolex crown sign indicating 12 o'clock. This watch also features an engraved dedication on the case back which always adds a story to such incredible vintage timepieces. The watch is keeping perfect time.  

Dial - The off-white dial is near mint condition, the hands show their age. 

Case - The 18k gold plated case is in great condition and shows light signs of use. 

Crown - The crown is its original Rolex screw down and is in excellent condition as well as works perfectly in all of its functions. 

Movement - This piece is powered by its original Rolex calibre 1530 automatic which is perfect condition. This piece is keeping fantastic time and all of its functions are working perfectly. The date is set by winding the hands forward.  

Case back - The case back is original with all of its Rolex markings on the inside with personal dedication on the face of it. This watch has clearly been treasured and looked after as it hardly shows any signs of wear from use over its decades of life. 

Bracelet - We have put this watch on a deservedly high quality new leather strap. 

Crystal - The watch features an acrylic crystal which was standard for Rolexes of this era. The crystal is in near mint condition.
