This is one of the most iconic watches ever produced, and the Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 16610T is renowned for its timeless design, durability, and historical significance within Rolex's lineup. Introduced in the late 1980s as the successor to the Submariner Date Ref. 16800, it remained in production until 2010, making it one of the longest-running Submariner references.

The Ref. 16610 is particularly notable as the long-running Submariner Date that combined the 40mm Oyster case, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, aluminium bezel insert, and Rolex Calibre 3135 automatic movement, before eventually being replaced by the six-digit, ceramic-bezel Ref. 116610.

This particular example is a 16610T, the later case variant distinguished by its lack of drilled lug holes. Unlike earlier examples with visible holes through the sides of the lugs, the spring bars on this case are accessed internally, giving the case a clean and uninterrupted profile.

Condition

This watch is fitted with its original scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and Cyclops date magnification. Powered by the renowned Rolex Calibre 3135 automatic movement, known for its reliability and precision, it features a convenient quick-set date function. The movement is running perfectly and keeping excellent time.

The watch features a beautifully preserved black “SWISS MADE” dial, representing the later post-tritium luminous configuration. The dial remains crisp and clean, complemented by matching luminous hands and hour markers.

Water Resistance

Although this watch was originally rated to 300 metres (1,000 feet) and designed as a serious professional dive watch, due to the age of the watch, we cannot guarantee its current water resistance. We therefore recommend that it is not exposed to water unless it has first been professionally pressure tested.

Dial - near-mint condition.

Case & Bezel - are in fantastic condition and show only very light signs of wear. 

Crown - The crown is its original Rolex screw down and is in excellent condition and works perfectly in all of its functions. 

Movement - This model houses its original Rolex Calibre 3135 automatic movement which is working perfectly and keeping excellent time. 

Case back - The case back is original with all of its Rolex markings on the inner. It shows only very light signs of wear.

Bracelet - The Rolex Oyster bracelet is in exceptional condition showing only very minimal wear. 

Crystal - remains in excellent conditions, showing minimal wear under magnification.
