Presented for sale is a truly captivating vintage Rolex cocktail watch dating back to the early 1960s. This magnificent piece is known as the Rolex “Chameleon” because of its ingenious interchangeable strap system. Rather than being restricted to a conventional fixed bracelet, the case was designed to accommodate different bracelets and straps, allowing the appearance of the watch to be transformed according to the occasion.

This elegant timepiece features a silver sunburst dial encased in a solid 18ct gold fluted sunburst case paired with a beautifully and intricately designed solid 18ct gold bracelet. This watch is well preserved and remains in stunning condition. Mechanically, the watch is running flawlessly and keeping excellent time within specification.

This particular example is especially desirable because it retains an impressive selection of its original accessories. It is accompanied by a solid 18ct gold Rolex bracelet, together with two further interchangeable Rolex leather straps, providing three distinct ways of wearing the watch. The complete presentation is further enhanced by the presence of its original Rolex presentation box. This watch represents a rare opportunity to own an authentic and highly desirable vintage Rolex from an important period in the brand’s history.

Dial - The dial with gold markers and hands remain in a stunning vintage condition, showing graceful signs of age on closer look.

Case - The solid 18ct case is in fantastic shape for a watch of this age and shows just light signs of wear. 

Crown - The original, Rolex signed crown works perfectly in all of its functions and remains in excellent vintage condition as the rest of the watch. 

Movement - The watch encases its original Rolex manual wind movement which is working very well and keeping excellent time. 

Case back - The solid 18ct gold original case back shows only light signs of wear.

Strap - This piece has an amazing original solid 18ct gold Rolex bracelet and further two original Rolex signed leather straps with Rolex signed gold-plated buckles. The solid gold bracelet is a small size - 6in/150mm long - and remains in incredible condition for its age. The leather straps show little wear around the holes but otherwise they look almost new.

Crystal - The crystal is in fantastic condition, with little signs of wear around edges and fine imperfections, which are visible under magnification.
